Happy Fourth of July!
Why do we set off fireworks on the Fourth of July?
John Adams had envisioned fireworks as part of the festivities to take place on the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. In a letter to Abigail Adams on July 3, 1776, he wrote that the occasion should be commemorated “with illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more.” The first Fourth of July fireworks were set off on July 4th, 1777 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On behalf of the ITSOG™ team, we wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July.
